Why Our Liners Are Different: Clean, Vegan, & Skin-Loving
When we set out to create our Confession and Back Chat lip liners, we knew one thing for certain: they had to deliver performance without compromise. That means long-wearing within reason, buttery smooth and without the blacklisted ingredients you’ll find in many traditional liners.
Because beauty should feel good, not questionable.
What You’ll Never Find in Our Liners
We’ve drawn a firm line (pun intended) on ingredients that don’t align with clean, vegan, and skin-friendly beauty. Here’s what we leave out:
1. Toxic or Controversial Chemicals
- Parabens (Methyl-, Propyl-, Butylparaben) – linked to hormone disruption
- Phthalates – associated with reproductive toxicity
- Petroleum & Mineral Oils – potential contamination risks
- Formaldehyde-releasing agents – irritating and unsafe
2. Animal-Derived Ingredients (Non-Vegan)
- Carmine – a red pigment made from crushed insects
- Lanolin – derived from sheep’s wool
- Beeswax – common in pencils, but not in ours
- Animal-based collagen & keratin
3. Skin & Lip Irritants
- Synthetic fragrances & perfumes – known to cause reactions
- SLS & SLES – harsh surfactants that dry and irritate
- Ethanolamines (DEA, TEA, MEA) – linked to contamination risks
4. Environmentally Harmful Ingredients
- Microplastics – polluting and unnecessary
- Silicones – slow to break down in the environment
- Oxybenzone & Octinoxate – harmful to marine life
What You’ll Always Find Instead
Our liners are:
- 100% vegan & cruelty-free
- Made with plant-based waxes and oils (like jojoba & rapeseed) for a smooth, nourishing glide
- Long-lasting pigment that doesn’t compromise on payoff
- Packaged consciously with sustainability in mind
The Bottom Line
At ed&i, clean beauty isn’t a trend, it’s our standard. With every swipe of our liners, you can feel confident knowing you’re enhancing your natural beauty with formulas that are safe for you, kind to animals, and better for the planet.
Because looking good should never come at the cost of your health, your values, or the environment.
