3 things I have learnt during my pregnancy
Pregnancy is an amazing journey! This is a magical time filled with anticipation, joy, and just enjoying your and your baby's company. As you embark on this beautiful adventure, it’s essential to prioritise self-care and embrace the wonderful changes your body goes through.
Before baby comes, I really want to connect with you all in this blog about all the things I have learned about caring for my pregnant belly.
Patience
Pregnancy unfolds at its own pace. You are going along your journey in your own time, but everyone has the same goal - a happy and healthy baby. My pregnancy has taught me to embrace patience and surrender to the natural progression of my body and my baby's development.
Don’t rush the little things; take the time to appreciate your development because time goes by much quicker than you think.
Trusting my instincts
Throughout this wild ride called pregnancy, I've stumbled upon a whole new way of looking at life and tapped into instincts I never knew I had. People kept telling me that decision-making would get tricky because it's not just about me anymore – there's a little human in the mix now.
But you know what? Along the way, I've become surprisingly confident in making choices. Whether it's figuring out the best prenatal care or getting my head around a birth plan, I've found this groove where I trust myself. I'm just doing things my way, confident that every decision aligns with how I want to raise my little one. It's been a wild ride, but hey, it's shaping up to be my own unique journey into parenthood.
Self-care
If you know me, you will know that this is non-negotiable! Prioritising self-care is a MUST when you're pregnant. Self-care includes everything from stress management, relaxation, exercising and using the right products to support you.
But most importantly, as I gently massage my pregnant belly, feeling the delicate life growing within, a profound sense of connection washes over me. Through the gentle strokes and loving attention I bestow upon my belly, I am not only tending to his physical well-being but also forging an emotional connection. In these quiet moments of introspection, I feel his presence, his essence, intertwined with mine, knitting together the fabric of our shared journey. It is through caring for my pregnant belly that I am able to truly connect with the miracle of life growing within me, fostering a bond that will endure long after he enters the world.
Navigating the twists and turns of pregnancy can bring about various stressors, and finding effective ways to cope becomes most important. Whether it's through mindfulness, meditation, or engaging in activities that bring joy, the goal is to create a serene space for both the mind and body.
Relaxation becomes a deliberate act, not just a luxury. Taking moments to unwind, whether through a warm bath or simply resting with your feet up, fosters an environment of calm amidst the whirlwind of pregnancy. I am always on the go, so making this a priority was difficult throughout my pregnancy, but I knew I needed to do this for the health of my baby.
Physical activity, tailored to your unique needs and comfort levels, is a crucial aspect of self-care. I like doing gentle exercises like walking around the block or hitting the gym with light/ body weight activities with hubby.
Choosing the right products to support your body is like giving it a nurturing hug. Opting for items that prioritise your comfort and safety becomes a way of expressing self-love during this extraordinary time. Lucky for me, I had the best products at my own fingertips. I mostly used SKIN COAT and put this all over my bump while adding the new BUMP BALM into the mix towards the end of my pregnancy.
