Performing a lymphatic drainage massage at home with our ed&i Gua Sha
With today's beauty treatments limited to what's possible to do yourself, and self-care becoming more important than ever, we are looking for more moments of peace. This is where we introduce Lymphatic Drainage Massage, a new technique loved by celebrities for its sculpting effect.
Are you struggling with constipation, slow bowel function, headaches, pressure within in shoulders, acne, dry skin and more? These are common signs that your lymphatic system is clogged and a lymphatic massage would benefit your body and health. The goal of a gua sha massage is to move the fluid out of the tissues and into the lymph nodes, where bacteria, viruses and other harmful microorganisms are removed.
Using our body gua sha for your at-home lymphatic drainage massage offers several benefits for the body. The benefits we love are detoxification, reduced swelling, enhanced immune function, improved recovery, improved skin health and relaxation of the nervous system.
Lymphatic drainage helps stimulate the lymphatic system by circulation. This process helps eliminate toxins, waste products and excess fluid from the body by supporting our body's natural detoxification process. Promoting the movement of excess fluid and reducing inflammation, this can assist with discomfort and promote healing.
At ed&i we are all about self-care, so we want our Gua Sha to be a relaxing process you can incorporate into your daily self-care routine. So make sure to take time out of your day to create a comfortable environment to perform your lymphatic drainage massage. This blog includes our step-by-step guide for using our Gua Sha to perform your at-home lymphatic drainage massage!
ed&i’s how-to:
- Prepare your space: Find a quiet and comfortable environment, or get your favourite podcast playing in the background.
- Position yourself: Lie down on a comfy surface
- Apply gentle pressure: Begin by applying gentle pressure with your hands on the base of your neck, just above the collarbone. This pressure helps release tension in the neck.. Press down lightly and hold for a few seconds to stimulate lymphatic flow.
- Perform large strokes: Using a firm touch, perform gentle strokes towards the lymph nodes. Start at the neck and move towards the armpits and groin, following the natural path of the lymphatic system. Use flat hands or your fingertips, and maintain a slow pace.
- Focus on specific areas: Pay attention to areas where you may experience lymphatic congestion, such as swollen lymph nodes, stomach or legs.
- Perform your strokes towards your heart, Incorporate circular motions into your massage technique. This helps stimulate lymphatic flow and breaks up any blockages.
- Lastly, Drink water: Hydration is essential for supporting lymphatic drainage. Make sure to drink plenty of water before and after the massage to help flush out toxins.
