Summer Skincare
We’re moving into summer and it’s ever so crucial now to have a solid summer skincare routine in place.
The key is going to be protect, protect, protect this summer! The heat, UV Rays and pollution can all play a part in potentially damaging your skin in summer.
Sunscreen is a must!
A good sunscreen helps reduce the risk of sunburn, prevent signs of aging, reduce your risk of skin cancer and it actually also helps to maintain an even skin tone. Of course anyone will tell you it’s so important to protect yourself from the sun and it’s UV Rays. Consistent sunburns can result in damage that can lead to skin cancer, premature ageing & wrinkling, and a variety of other skin problems.
Your elastin, collagen, and skin cells can become damaged from repeated sun exposure with little to no protection. This can eventually result in early ageing symptoms as discolouration, wrinkles and fine lines. Make sure to pop on some sunscreen if you’re going outside even if it’s for a quick errand!
But don’t forget your hands, feet and neck! They’re just as important to protect as well.
Exfoliate your body
No matter how much lotion and moisturiser you use, your body will never glow unless you exfoliate. Your body is constantly shedding skin cells throughout the day and unless you exfoliate to get rid of them they will start to make your skin look dry and dull. Exfoliating your skin in summer can help remove sweat, dirt and excess makeup. Additionally exfoliating your body in summer encourages skin cell turnover which can help improve the texture and tone of your skin.
Go for minimal makeup
This summer the less makeup the better. Embrace your beautiful natural features. If you do intend on wearing makeup, you absolutely need to make sure you are applying a face sunscreen as well. A lip balm or lip protector is also a need when going out in the sun.
Drink Up
Drink up and stay hydrated! Try to make sure you’re also carrying a water bottle around with you. It is so crucial this summer to keep your body hydrated and happy.
Hydrate your body
Make sure you’re not only hydrating from within, but also hydrating your skin. Oils and lotions are your friend this summer. Make sure you apply right after you dry off from your shower, exfoliation or after being in the sun. You need to seal in the moisture your body just soaked in.
Don’t always rely on the sun for a natural glow!
This summer you don’t have to rely on getting a natural tan and glow from the sun. There are so many options out there for tanning. Using a self-tanner is a much safer alternative to baking in the sun for hours on end. Try pairing a self-tanner with a glow moisturiser to create the ultimate glowy summer look.
